After a very slow start trying the equivalent of Australian macro brews (Victoria Bitter, Hahn, Toohey's, etc) and being very disappointed we did figure out what the beers worth trying were. Western Australia came through in this respect too, though it may have been our heightened senses at this point that allowed us to find the good stuff.
Needless to say, we tried a fair amount, and much of it was tasty. We even visited two brewery/brewpubs, both excellent.
Colonial Brewery (picture of 'paddle' above) - Margaret River, WA
Little Creatures Brewery (picture of vats above) - Freemantle, WA
Other beers pictured:
Beez Neez Honey Wheat
Mountain Goat Pale Ale
Abbotsford Invalid Stout (actually a Fosters offering, Fosters having gobbled up its parent)
The Victoria Bitter in the first picture is also a Fosters brand now, and I think the most popular beer in Australia (think Bud Light). It's very mediocre.

Colonial Brewery tasting...making me do the Homer drool thing...
Their beer was excellent.
We went to Little Creatures thinking we'd get a paddle as well, but instead the fine barmaid just poured us a couple ounces of all the things they serve and let us taste them for free.
We got to LC before much of a crowd had arrived. We settled into a couple of soft chairs, drank beer, I read the paper, Faith wrote postcards, and spent a leisurely couple of hours behaving as you might in a good coffee shop. And we got a little buzz.
So...in the paddle...starting with the beer farthest away and working towards you:
- Vienna Lager (Amber Ale).
- Porter.
- Pale Ale.
- Hefeweizen, or some type of wheat ale.
- Kolsch.
Looks like you had a heck of a time. You were very hydrated too.
