Five weeks from yesterday we vote. Things are looking good. Almost unbelievably good after the two weeks that followed the Republican National Convention. Thanks to an economy on the verge of collapse and the vaudeville act that has been the McCain/Palin campaign we are on the verge, though of course things could change again.
What will happen over the next 5 weeks?
A shit storm of nasty overt and covert attacks, increasing in their intensity right up to election day. McCain and his supporters are going to scratch and claw up to the last minute. It is going to be ugly. Really, really ugly.
There are entrenched interests that see their free ride coming to an end and they have nothing to lose throwing everything onto the fire.
Hopefully the 5 weeks will pass quickly.

Rumor has it that a variation of the "October Surprise" will be Palin's daughter's marriage, which is expected to divert all attention on issues and give the voters the extreme warm fuzzies.
I predict an ugly attack on Obama right before we vote. People will be blinded by this and they are scared away from Obama.
I hope that I am wrong, but my bones feel something wicked brewing.
I am going to vote for OBAMA!
Who knows. Wary as I am, I must confess a certain curiosity as to the nature of "the next Hail Hary."
It would be unnatural not to wonder.
