At some point, I'll go hi-def. I just don't have the money right now. When things get more affordable, I'll get a digital TV.

It's funny, it's like 1997 all over again, when we were told DVD was the end-all be-all. I just got back from Japan, where hi-def had been around for a while, but still. The hype machine oscillates so much, it can make a guy sick.

I doubt I'll ever own a high-def player. Before I get around to it, we'll be talking all streaming content, and I'll happily never own and high def DVD's.

But man is that picture quality better...

I don't get that whole thing. How can that picture on the right be standard DVD. I have yet to see a DVD that looks anywhere near that crappy.

At least so far as my source presented it, those were pixel for pixel screen shots. The fact that the image is constantly moving my eliminate most of the sense of blurriness.

That still seems like bullshit. They don't look crappy on "pause."
