Loved it. But I also loved Smoking Aces. I have a man crush on Clive Owen so I'm partial to all his movies (I even watched all those BMW "The Driver" movies back in the day).
The action was over the top and ridiculous which was a blast. How can you not have fun watching Paul Giamatti as a really bad bad guy. And Monica, well she's just always nice to have aroud ya know...
I might criticize the plot for trying too hard but that's about it. At least with one viewing under my belt. I doubt it'd hold up under multiple viewings.
Perhaps I had too high of expectations, but other than some clever action sequences, it seemed really formulaic to me. Some of the dialogue made me wince.
The rough animations the director used to pitch the movie were really cool, and ultimately filmed almost shot for shot. Check out the special features.

I'm on a streak of eights (rating-wise) so far in the new year. It's only three movies, but so far, so good.
