Notorious. The rumor is that Lucas has attempted to suppress any and all copies of the show. A bar in Canada somewhere has been showing it regularly. I don't really remember it, but it's a part of the SW lore.
I actually do remember it, though I had forgotten the plot exactly. I remembered the Wookies featured prominently, and that I never saw it again.
It's pretty clear why this was suppressed - it is about as bad as humanly possible. They were all riding high on the unexpected success, but this one really feels like some corporate mucky muck trying to squeeze every last drop out of it.
Interesting...though GL certainly wanted us to believe he conceived of BF as part of Episode IV - see the reissued version that I believe has BF in it, along with Jabba - it would be weird to think the crappy Christmas special was the original source.
