Government MANDATED vacation, by country. And no, that's not the USA at the right with 10, that's Japan. We have ZERO.
And many of these countries have higher hourly worker productivity than we do and few of them have drastically lower productivity.
Anyone speak Finnish?
Obviously all of us have varying degrees of vacation, from the 'government mandated' 3 months of T-Clog to whatever employer provided time-off the rest of us have, but many people don't.
1/4 of all Americans have no time off at all.
1/2 of all white collar workers get no paid sick time.
I'm one of the latter - I only get what's called PTO (personal time off) to use for any absences from work that I need. We do not get 'sick' time, and generally that's ok by me, mostly because I'm rarely sick.

Seriously! That is almost a reason to move to Finland. No Joke. Today was painful. I cannot STAND it when I hear someone mention that they "don't even like to take vacation days" or when leaving early means only ten minutes. I think a whole lot of fuckers out there want to work only to pass the time until prime time when they really do their "living". It Is SICK!!!!
What the hee-hawing hell are we working TOWARDS anyway. Whatever it is it is not working. EVERYWHERE you turn someone is waging a war. On Poverty. On Drugs. On Terror. On Crime. A WAR against CRIME! - give me a break. We are working only for WAR. Those who do not work are doing things that those who are working do not approve of and it ends in a war. Every single mother-fuckin' time! We must work harder because the ones not working are winning.
Take some time. Stay in bed. Play with your kids. For god's sake LISTEN to your kids. Brush out your hair slowly. Eat some breakfast. Watch the world outside during the afternoon. Just don't work or at least STOP harrassing those of us who will work, but like more vacation and long lunches. What the hell is wrong with that. Leave us alone. Go ahead and take your "working lunch" if you must, but let me go and leave me be!
We are going to die. Maybe real soon. For heaven's sake look at how ridiculous we've become. Nothing less than ants. Big ants using up big gas to do business regarding what? Products. Services. Just take your lunch. Increase vacation. Don't freak out about one's perception of being busy - that is CANCER!

I've apparently tapped into something primal here.
This issue of vacation is a hot one for me. It can make me cry. Frustrated with the attitudes of people regarding their time. It seems so petty!
