...rubs eyes....looks again....

A member of the Texas legislature does not believe that the Earth revolves around the sun.

Not a spoof.

And the Jews are behind it.

We really should just give Texas back to Mexico.

There is a tiny piece of me that's willing to tolerate someone who finds evolution unacceptable (imperceptibly tiny perhaps, but there if you look with an electron tunneling microscope) but not believing the Earth revolves around the sun? That's something even the BIGGEST GODDAMN IDIOT IN THE WORLD can get their head around. Shit, we've sent probes around the sun dozens of times, usually on their way somewhere else. What exactly in the Bible would make one believe that Copernicus (among others) was wrong?

(later) a representative in Georgia has the same view. Not sure who we can give Georgia to. Back to Britain? I will sorely miss their peaches. maybe we can import them.

Time seems to prove that winning the Civil War, while ethically and morally the right thing to do, had its downsides. We accommodated a bunch of racist and ignorant fucks in exchange for the satisfaction at having done the right thing. Perhaps working to free the slaves AND letting the south secede would have been a viable option. Free the slaves first, of course, let them come north, and then let the south return to it's desired state. That probably would have meant they would find a new source for human property, and so the cycle would have been repeated. Damn.

It's a little sad, but there's a good reason "truthiness" is showing up in dictionaries, and it's not because Stephen Colbert is so funny, everyone gets it. There's an adversion to science at any level, for some folks, a lot of folks, and of course a lot of them hold some sort of control in how other learn.

Maybe T-Clog can speak to this, but I remember learning how Texas had a lot of power when it comes to textbook publishing.

Texas is no Kansas.

But they're trying hard.

KS elected all sorts of Democrats this last cycle and rejected utterly the Creationist/ID crap that had been foisted on them.

And man, the idea of rejecting the Earth revolving around the sun really blows my mind.

Meth, everyone knows that the sun revolves around the earth and that the earth is flat.

Don't scare us with your silly notion that the earth revolves around the sun.

GEE WIZ! God Bless Texas! :)

The 15th century really was the pinnacle of human knowledge.

(the Greeks knew the Earth was both round 2000 years earlier)

Just read the .pdf. Warren Chiholm, and others like him, need to see "Inheret the Wind." But they probably would totally miss the point, anyway.

"Evolution Science/Creation Science" From the same terminology masters that brought you "The Democrat Party."
