Mixed Metaphors

One of my favorites:

I could eat the broad side of a barn.

Got any others that tickle your fancy?

In the same vein as above, but not a mixed metaphor per se:

I could eat the business end of a skunk.

I was really hungry before lunch today and the first made its way back into my brain.

There's so many. I've always loved Joe Blue Collar's call for an end to hierchical class structure:

His shit doesn't stink

Not sure that's a mixed metaphor either, but it is a good one.

To that end:

I was born at night, but not last night to replace the hackneyed I wasn't born yesterday.

Getting a little off track, but how often have you been told "I haven't got all day" by someone you suspect just might have all day?

I don't think anyone has ever said that to me and not meant it jokingly.

For that I am thankful.

I just now realized what you meant by "mixed metaphors." I thought you just meant metaphors that juxtaposed otherwise unrelated terms. You meant mixing up two traditionally separate metaphors. Never really thought of it, though I've been known to mix up a phrase or two of ordinary language. One I recall:

Readily handible.

Not sure what that means in any context.

While relaxing, I like to keep a beer readily handible.

Wouldn't that be 'handable'?

I suppose. But I don't think I even had a specific word in mind when I first said it.
