NYC Redux

The quick recap:

Conan
  • more fun than expected
  • studio way smaller than it appears on TV
  • band great
  • warm-up guy very funny
  • Conan sings song at the end that isn't on TV
  • ticketing process insane (INSANE!!)
  • more business-like than expected
  • recommended
Museum of Natural History
  • so much information...so much
  • in 2 1/2 hours of intense museum going, saw maybe 1/10 of what was available
  • lots of great anthropological stuff from all over the world presented well
  • Rose Planetarium building cool
  • recommended
Cooper Hewitt Design Museum
  • depends on exhibit whether most people would like it
General wandering
  • the subway is great, so great
  • so many accidental discoveries possible (oh look Carnegie Hall)
  • so much diversity - somewhere every American should be forced to experience to get over their fear of 'furriners'.
  • food not as expensive as you'd expect - lots of ways to each cheap if desired, or not.
  • lodging not insane if you're willing to use the subway to get to the heart of things
Like Washington DC (though DC is dominated by great museums rather than more generic 'culture') NYC is great and not intimidating in any way. The people are much more friendly than they get credit for - much friendlier than Boston. On two separate trips complete strangers have come up to Faith to complement her on some aspect of her appearance. Both women. Crazy.

Get there if you can.

Good thing you didn't say "Get there while you can, cause then the Department of Homeland Security would want to have some words with you.

Man, I'm going. Soon. This summer, maybe. I'll just hop in my car and go.

Cheri, the other half, is sort of from there. I don't know what she'd make of going out there, but finding a cheap fare to NY and making at least a week of it couldn't be that troublesome. I need to do some planning.

Glad you had a blast!

I will ask you the same question I asked Dan. Why the word verification? Just wondering.
