Gloves or mittens

Discuss...

And if both, describe the whys and wherefores.

I, for one, have become an almost universal mitten man. Mittens, except in the rare instance when I'm doing some work on the house or car when it's cold, keep my hands much much warmer. And in the end, that's all I really care about.

Mittens 100% of the time. If I need my fingers to do some fine task I just slip them off and then back on.

They keep my fingers warmer and I don't care to have my fingers seperated from each other. Imagine putting on those socks that have individual toe pockets. Crazy!

A man after my own warm fingers.

Mittens make all the sense in the world, I simply have never bought a pair and have an ancient pair of gloves that do an OK job.

But yes - mittens - like live bodies skin to skin - simply warmer

Do you wear these ancient gloves daily or:

A) is Indiana THAT warm?
B) is this the same crap you pulled in Pots and Pans in food service? Some sort of tough-guy exercise?
C) some other reason?

it isn't that cold relatively speaking and the gloves are still in good shape - just never got tothe point of buying a pair - it could change

Hmmm....

Not sure I'm buying it...gloves/mittens are a Christmas natural, even if the gloves are inspired by the exploits of Zorro!

I'm a little in MT's bucket. I've always just had gloves for day-to-day. Mittens I've had have seemed a bit clumsy even for the relatively simple task of fumbling with keys.

I have a ($125) pair of expedition-quality mittens by Granite Gear that I bought about 10 years ago for purposes of winter camping. They're seriously overkill for daily stuff, though I sometimes use one of the (two sets of) liner mitts for winter running.

Generally speaking, I'm not outside all that much on the colder days. Gloves get me from the house to the car, and from the car to work, and back home again.

Primus and I go for walks everyday, even on the coldest of days (including below zero, though she seems to be becoming more rational when it comes to that in her middle age). Mittens make that possible.

I have an insane pair of mittens that are really only good for arctic expeditions - even on the coldest days, using them shovelling make my hands sweat like crazy.

I have a great pair of EMS mittens that are super light, nylon shelled, and are thin enough to allow a fair amount of dexterity. And their warm. Miraculous. I don't find gloves to be any better for fumbling with keys, warm gloves anyway.

I had no idea you were so into mittens. I think it is totally awesome.

I wish that a mitten was running for president rather than Nader.

Mitten got beat by McCain.
