I'm not sure how it ended up in my Netflix queue, but there it was, Cemetery Man (known elsewhere in the world as Dellamorte Dellamore). It's in English, with a recognizable English actor - Rupert Everett - but there are times when it seems incorrectly translated from Italian. It really feels like it should have subtitles.
Regardless of how it got in my queue, it was available for streaming, and so I watched it over the course of two evenings. It's a combination send up spoof of zombie B-movies from the 50's and metaphysical treatise on the nature of life and death. It has all of the ridiculous gore one finds in good zombie movies, none of it actually chilling, even when well done, and a quirky plot involving the main character and a series of girls that look remarkably alike.
It's worth streaming, though probably not worth renting.
Not worth either is the excruciating Marie Antoinette, directed by Sophia Coppola (Lost in Translation, The Virgin Suicides) and starring Kirsten Dunst as the title character. The movie does show some interesting ridiculousness of courtly life, but otherwise meanders aimlessly and slowly towards the inevitable end. It was one of the most boring movies I've ever seen. If M.A. was this boring in real life, it's no wonder she was beheaded.
