After getting up to 41 a couple of times and getting knocked down to 39 or 40, I decided I should call it quits. 45 for you to my 41 sounds about right. I realize that you got up to 49, but I also picture you having obsessively stuck at this a little longer than me. Correct me if I'm wrong.
In slogging through this a bit, I've come to learn that many of the words I don't actually know, but I can narrow it down based either on the part of speech or by the prefix/suffix, or by recognizing a similar word to the one listed.
If nothing else I am adding to my vocabulary, and supplying rice to the World Food Program too.
The guy that created the website originally did it to help his son with the SAT. Once he got some advertisers he decided to donate all proceeds to the world food program, but the advertisers obviously demand a certain viewership to pay up.

I was up to 45 at one point, but then dropped, and coudn't get back past 41.

Absolutely. I was pretty happy with the number I got correct after trying to parse out the root word, or some other etymological trick.
As far as the rice thing - what a bunch of bullshit. Just give them the rice, already! Jesus H Christ!

I scored a high of 40. However, I would drop and go back up and drop again. Never getting past 40. This is quite interesting and fun. Good find Meth.
