A few little things:
Don't flush or throw away prescription medicines - it all ends up in the water supply meaning both human and animal/plant life is being exposed to all sorts of crazy shit. One of the more common ones is female hormones - causing all sorts of weird effects and possibly involved in girls as young as 8 achieving maturity. Tell everyone you know.

Sodium benzoate + ascorbic acid (artificial vitamin C) combine to create benzene, a known carcinogen. Things that have these two ingredients - Mountain Dew and Sunny Delight along with a whole host of fruit-flavored drinks.

Some of the details of this, I've not necessarily heard before. But common sense prevents me from disposing of crazy shit down the toilet, in any case.
For a large segment of society, out of sight is truly out of mind.
