Primus

Primus is sick. We thought it was lyme disease which for dogs is easily treated with anti-biotics, but she doesn't seem to be responding to that treatment and a liver-function test showed an abnormal level of protein in her urine.

So, now we don't know what is wrong with her, and as Dan well knows, nailing down the actual ailment among our furry companions is difficult. She seems to have the symptoms of Lyme - stiff, lethargic, feverish - so maybe the anti-biotics are just taking unusually long to kick in.

She's tough, but man it sucks to see her uncomfortable in any way.

Sorry to hear about that - hopefully she will get better soon. I'll be thinking of you guys. Good Luck.

Hoping for the best for you guys.

What does your vet say about west nile? Antibiotics won't work on a virus. Scopping the stomach for plastic is expensive but it would rule that out.

Hope that Primus gets better ASAP!

Nothing new - she's hanging out at the vet all day with the hope that she can be diagnosed.

She had a 105 degree fever when Faith dropped her off, but nothing bad showed up in an x-ray.

105! What is normal for dogs? I thought they ran a little cooler.

She was 99 on Monday - which is/was 'normal' and one of the indications that it wasn't Lyme disease.

It was fairly apparent she had a fever last night - she was really hot and had chills.

Hopefully this is some explicable virus that can be knocked down with penicillin or something similar.

Absolutely. We'll be thinking of you guys.

You said it - she's a strong beast. I'm thinking if anyone can knock this down, she can.

All your thoughts are much appreciated.

Will follow up with info as it presents itself.
