Children of Men
Life without children
Makes a bleak future indeed
But does hope remain?
Highly recommended for fans of well crafted dystopian futures. Same director as the third Harry Potter (Alfonso Cuaron). Combines Blade Runner with The Stand.
Casino Royale
Bond returns with depth
Keeps you riveted until
The palazzo falls.
This one strips the camp (most of it anyway) off the series and makes for a good watch. There seems to be a constant pendulum swing from interesting to campy nonsense for each of the respective Bonds. The pendulum has swung back to the good.

Some of us dig campy nonsense.
However, some of us find the traditional Bond movie a bit dull, for all it's gadgetry & danger. I have Casino Royale in the queue, howver; and am looking forward to it.
My best year of movie watching ever continues, unabated. Saw "Sex, Lies, and Videotape" last night. Really liked it, and rated it accordingly.
Minimal gadgetry to be sure. Not sure what about 'danger' you don't like.
The last Bond with Pierce Brosnan and Halle Barry was a terrific piece of crap. I couldn't stomach watching it all, even with super hot Halle Barry.
The last Bond with Roger Moore (and perhaps a couple before, but mostly the last) A View to A Kill was god-awful.
I don't know that any of the Timothy Dalton ones was god-awful, but they certainly got worse.
And even the Sean Connery ones got bad as they got to the 70's.
I was saying that, in spite of the seemingly exciting world of gadgets and danger, I found the movies to be generally dull. I understand C.R. to be a bit different.
Agree about Casino Royale - the initial post that is.
Also saw 'Mirror Mask' and 'Curse of the Golden Flower' and 'SuperTroopers'
I've become so immune to James Bond films, I can't honestly differentiate between good and bad ones. I almost wish they'd taken up offers from Scorsese and Tarantino to do their respective takes on the series. Why not? What pedigree does the Brocolli family think they are protecting? That said, I should sit down and watch C.R.
Recently I've looked at "Volver", "Lola (1961)", "The Queen". All ok.
I've recently seen "SL&V" (as mentioned above," "Yojimbo," "Rio Bravo," The 39 Steps," and "Funny Ha Ha". All really good.
On tap: "Three's Company: Season One."
