After a 12 hour day at the jobsite yesterday I wasn't up for much in the way of endeavors last night, so I settled in front of the TV and watched whatever happened by. One of those things was the last half hour of The Lost Boys, a movie that I (and we) thought highly of when it came out.
I'm pretty certain that, if that last half hour is any indication, my opinion of the movie has changed at least 90 degrees to one of apathy, and possibly much farther.
The end is rife with unnecessary gore, explosions and useless violence. The thing seems so dated, it's almost funny. With some decent actors (Edward Herman, Dianne Weist and Keifer Sutherland) the rest of the cast suffers badly through The Coreys and other inexplicably successful actors.
It was mediocre at best, maybe entertaining, but not 'good' in any sense of the word.

Almost certainly, I would have a similar thought about it, were I to watch it again.
Remember that song "I Still Believe" that was featured at one point? It, along with that song by "the New Radicals" and that other song by "The Cutting Crew," make up the triad of the three most inexplicably played songs on alternative radio.
Most comedies I enjoyed as a teen have lost a lot of their luster, though it's all the more reason to appreciate Blazing Saddles-as it really seems to stand the test of time.
I wondered recently about "Total Recall" (a movie I remember you buying) Seen that in recent years? My guess is that we would really be turned off by the extraordinary amounts of gratuitous violence, but that it would actually still seem like a pretty good movie.
